365 had a sweet tooth last Wednesday! We attended the Michigan Distributors & Vendors Association’s (MDVA) 2018 “Day at the Capitol” in Lansing! MDVA is our industry’s state advocacy organization, working on our behalf to influence tax and regulatory legislature. MDVA Day is an annual event where candy boxes are used to lure state representatives and senators to a networking luncheon with association members.

The day included a briefing from MDVA President Polly Reber, followed by Senators Mike Shirkey and Margaret O’Brien and Lt. Governor Brian Calley discussing how they’re strengthening our economy and the positive direction the state is moving in. We enjoyed hearing their enthusiasm and dedication towards their projects!

Amy Shaw, Staff to Senator Hune also discussed the process in which she and her team followed to ensure that the micro-market licensing through MDARD was accomplished. Thank you, Amy!

Next, we hand-delivered luncheon Golden Tickets to each of the legislators’ offices. The Golden Ticket was redeemed for a famous MDVA Candy Box! The candy boxes were filled with the latest sweet treats, which were provided by various suppliers! 365 enjoyed going office-to-office and shaking hands with our state legislators. Without MDVA Day, we wouldn’t have the opportunity to meet the people behind what makes Michigan great!

It’s been reported that this year’s MDVA Day had the highest turn-out of elected officials for any event of its kind—with a total of 121 state Senators and state Representatives participating in our event! 365 is proud to be a part of such a successful and motivating event! We can’t wait until next year!
