365 Retail Markets Named to Inc. 5000 List of Fastest-Growing Private Companies

365 Named to Inc. 5000 List For Second Year in a Row

365 Retail Markets ranked No. 1,094 on the exclusive list achieving 354% revenue growth from 2012-2015.

August 31, 2015: Troy, MI Inc. magazine has ranked 365 Retail Markets, the global leader in MicroMarket technology – offering a best-in-class POS platform for the vending, foodservice and hospitality industry, No. 1,094 on its 35th annual Inc. 5000, an exclusive ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. The list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy—America’s independent entrepreneurs. Companies such as Yelp, Pandora, Timberland, Dell, Domino’s Pizza, LinkedIn, Zillow, and many other well-known names gained early exposure as members of the Inc. 5000.

“The past 12 months have been a whirlwind of activity for the entire 365 team, including myself. Exposure from national news coverage, television, radio, and now recognition for the second year in a row by Inc. tops off our year of accomplishments,” says 365 Retail Markets CEO, Joe Hessling. “It is clear that self-service technology will progress as a rapid-growth sector, and 365 will continue leading our industry with the best products, best team, and best customers.”

The 2016 Inc. 5000, unveiled online at Inc.com and with the top 500 companies featured in the September issue of Inc. (available on newsstands August 23rd) is the most competitive crop in the list’s history. Since 2012, 365 Retail Markets has expanded their product and service offerings, achieved a 354% increase in revenue, and has added 80+ new jobs.

“The Inc. 5000 list stands out where it really counts,” says Inc. President and Editor-In-Chief Eric Schurenberg. “It honors real achievement by a founder or a team of them. No one makes the Inc. 5000 without building something great – usually from scratch. That’s one of the hardest things to do in business, as every company founder knows. But without it, free enterprise fails.”

“As good as it feels to tell yourself and others in the company that we are doing great, a third party validation of company performance from Inc. is something to really be proud of.” said Hessling.

Complete results of the Inc. 5000, including company profiles and an interactive database that can be sorted by industry, region, and other criteria, can be found at www.inc.com/inc5000.

Methodology

The 2016 Inc. 5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2012 to 2015. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2012. They had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2015. (Since then, a number of companies on the list have gone public or been acquired.) The minimum revenue required for 2012 is $100,000; the minimum for 2015 is $2 million. As always, Inc. reserves the right to decline applicants for subjective reasons. Companies on the Inc. 500 are featured in Inc.’s September issue. They represent the top tier of the Inc. 5000, which can be found at http://www.inc.com/inc5000.

AirVend enables vending operators to comply with FDA regulations on displaying calorie information.

Show Me The Calories! 365 On New FDA Regulations

365 Retail Markets recently joined the NAMA Fly-In in Washington, DC on July 12-13. This event offered an opportunity to meet with members of Congress and speak with representatives of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) about the new calorie disclosure requirements and their impact on the vending and foodservice industries.

The regulation of concern is titled Food Labeling: Calorie Labeling of Articles of Food Sold in Vending Machines, and it requires operators to display to consumers the caloric information for specific food products sold from vending machines[1]. The contents of this rule also contain specifications on signage: type size, color, contrast, location, and more.

In discussions throughout NAMA’s Fly-In event, manufacturers (such as Kellogg’s and Mondelez) and operators alike expressed concern about the daunting transition ahead.

For manufacturers, the issue centered on special product labeling for the vending industry, which would need to be developed according to the standards for displaying caloric values in font at least 50% of the packaging’s largest text.

Meanwhile, operators were unnerved at the prospect of adding required signage to hundreds (even thousands) of vending machines in multiple locations, which would be costly and time-consuming. The price and environmental impact of printing will be steep, while the design and display requirements will be limiting. And that’s just at the beginning. Down the line, sign maintenance will need to be an anticipated responsibility. Signs will need to be replaced in the event of wear, updated information, and amended requirements.

365 Retail Markets is here for you, to make the transition a little smoother.

AirVend is a peripheral device with digital display that easily attaches to a vending machine. This accessory will exhibit the nutritional values and company contact information necessary to comply with the FDA calorie disclosure requirements.

AirVend also accepts electronic forms of payment, which are used 32% more than cash[2]. This technology also includes the added benefit of displaying advertisements, which can influence purchases and increase sales volumes by up to 35%[3].

Digital vending devices (such as AirVend) will not only facilitate compliance with new regulations, but also provide the opportunity to increase revenue stream, recoup the initial financial investment, and incorporate cutting-edge technology that will enable future updates.

365 offers special savings on volume pricing. Contact us today for more information.

MicroMarkets – Designed with the Consumer in Mind

As Seen in VendingMarketWatch.com’s – Micro Market News Update

Have you ever heard of the terms UX and UI? If not, don’t worry; you’re in good company.

UX or the User Experience focuses on the overall functionality of a product. It’s how the end user interacts with the platform; what steps are needed to move from screen to screen; are multiple screens necessary; how does the end user feel at the end of the interaction.

UI or the User Interface is the nice suit that can make your product stand out or slide into obscurity. It’s everything from the font selection, color scheme, icons and more. It is what the end user will see, touch and feel while interacting with a product.

In an interview with Forbes.com, Randall Smith, founder of Salt Lake City brand management agency Modern 8 had this to say:

“If good design is doing its job, it is managing your perception of an experience in many ways—both obvious and not so obvious. How you feel, and therefore if whether you’re going to engage and buy, is directly influenced by the design of a website, a package or a business card.”

How does this relate to your MicroMarket business?

Your goal as MicroMarket Operator is to create a positive experience in order to maximize sales. This includes everything from the layout of the breakroom, the merchandising of the products and the checkout process. If the customer has a positive experience, then they are more likely purchase items from the MicroMarket more frequently.

What are a few things to look for in a MicroMarket technology provider?

Are the kiosk screens customizable?
Adding buttons for items that are frequently purchased, or that do not have a barcode, not only gives you the opportunity to offer a greater variety of products, it also helps your customers select and pay for their products faster.

What is the checkout process?

It’s important to have an accurate barcode reader and an efficient checkout process. A slow barcode reader and a checkout process with too many steps will leave your customers feeling frustrated and less likely to utilize the MicroMarket.

Are multiple payment methods available?365Lounge_0174-2circleA

Having a fingerprint reader is a neat feature, but some of your customers may prefer to enter a PIN or swipe a market card. Offering multiple payment methods is a way to cater to a multitude of shoppers and offer a unique experience, thereby…creating a positive User Experience!
