Troy, Mich., April 12, 2018—365 Retail Markets, the global leader in MicroMarket technology – offering a best in class point-of-sale platform for the vending, foodservice and hospitality industries – is pleased to announce that its CEO, Joe Hessling, has been named NAMA’s 2018 Industry Person of the Year. He received the award during the 2018 NAMA Show in Las Vegas at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The NAMA Industry Person of the Year Award recognizes an individual who has consistently exemplified the highest standards of professional excellence throughout his or her career in the convenience services industry, has been active in leadership roles, and has been an inspiration to others.
“An award of any kind is really exciting but to receive an award from an industry like this is special to me because of the people that make up this industry,” said Hessling. “In my opinion, the convenience services industry is made up of the toughest hardest working, smartest individuals in the world. And to even be considered as a leader in the industry is a big accomplishment for me.”
Since 2008, Joe has served as Founder and CEO of 365 Retail Markets, delivering dynamic workplace technology, transforming breakrooms and connecting employees with products at work. The company’s self-service technology provides a turnkey platform, allowing industry operators to increase sales, improve the customer experience and increase profits while reducing cost. 365’s Connected CampusSM products range from its MicroMarket and nanomarket™ self-service kiosks to vending and dining point-of-sale systems to apps like 365Pay, 365Sidecar and others that provide a fully integrated consumer experience in the workplace. What began as a venture in a garage has grown to a staff of 150 employees and more than 20,000 payment centers across the globe.
“His ability to help customers understand and anticipate their future technology needs is one of the ways 365 retains its competitive advantage,” said Joe Rogan, CFO at 365 Retail Markets.
Joe’s dedication to serving the industry led him to join the NAMA Board of Directors and serve on multiple NAMA committees. He is involved in industry education, serving on the Executive Forum Task Force and speaking regularly on technology, MicroMarkets and new industry channels and opportunities. As an industry advocate, Joe has hosted site visits with Michigan lawmakers at his office and is a regular NAMA Fly-In and Public Policy Conference participant, meeting with legislators to build awareness on convenience services.
Hessling and 365 have received numerous recognitions, including being named Champion of the New Economy by Dbusiness, with 365 recognized as a Crain’s Michigan Fast 50, one of the Inc. 5000 List of America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies, two years in a row, as well as one of the Michigan 50 Companies to Watch by Michigan Celebrates Small Business. The company also earned both Automatic Merchandiser’s Readers’ Choice Product of the Year recognition two years in a row, and a NAMA Innovation Award.
Hessling shares his knowledge and innovation experience as a speaker and presenter at global technology and industry events as well as an advisor and investor for other start-ups. Both he and the 365 team contribute regularly to programs benefitting local families including Gleaners and the Volunteers of America’s Adopt a Family holiday program as well as threesisters.org. Joe lives in Birmingham, Michigan with his wife and two children.
